Awareness Raising

HUG regularly speaks to, and gives presentations to, local and national groups and organisations to tell people about its collective advocacy work, and explain the ways we undertake it. We also go along to events with our promotional materials, engaging members of the public, and often recruiting new membership.

But we also take our awareness-raising to another level, through offering more formal mental health awareness training to relevant professionals, such as: student nurses, Police officers, student Mental Health Officers – and even volunteer car drivers. Many of our members offer personal testimony about their lived experience at these events – their ‘expertise’ universally appreciated by those attending.
